It has been stated in research that play promotes cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of the child. Being outside offers the necessary conditions for children to thrive and learn. Through play, the child can experiment, solve problems, think creatively, and cooperate with others. I want to help students gain a deeper knowledge about themselves and the world around. I believe I can do this by giving my students the chance to get outside and explore. My students are young, rambunctious, and mostly boys. I have a lot of boys and they would much rather be outside learning, instead of inside the classroom. I want to use the items in this project to enhance their learning experience and really help bring a connection to all my students, but especially my reluctant boys. By providing my students with a sand and water table. Sand and water play encourages sensory development and provides the ideal opportunity for children to explore the benefits of messy play. All children enjoy exploring sand and water as it's usually in the form of self-directed explorative play. It allows them to work independently or with other children. Sand and water play enhances their social skills and ability to share and play with others.
