Read All About It: Action Magazine!
Funded Sep 27, 2018Thank you for helping my students get our Scholastic Action Magazine subscription. Students are excited to read the headlines and articles. They are, often amazed that they are familiar with the stories based on current events. for example, the December/January issue contained an article about two children who experienced the California fires, and how they overcame the devastating loss.when I assign other reading materials, students ask if they can read an Action magazine instead.
Action Magazine offers many lessons related to reading comprehension. The text features help strengthen student understanding of text. My classes are learning about sequence of events, central ideas, and broadening their vocabulary. We repeat readings to build fluency.
As I mentioned before, students ask to reread Action Magazines. When students finish assignments early, prior issues are in basket for students to read. Some of my more reluctant readers prefer the shorter articles. Other students relate to current events and the fiction. Once again, we appreciate the donors who made the magazine available to us.”
With gratitude,
