My students need money manipulatives for projects that work on percentages. We will work on projects that involve setting up businesses such as a restaurants, where students will play the roles of waiters or patron. Within their roles, they will need to know how to calculate things such as taxes, gratuity and discounts. Having physical money manipulatives will enhance the lesson, helping them to see and feel how bills are broken down in more tangible ways. They will also be able to use the physical money manipulatives when they are working on future lessons that involve money. My students need physical money manipulatives in order to develop real world financial math skills. With your help, these manipulatives will dramatically enhance their understanding of money and its use in real world scenarios.
