We are remaining optimistic that we will be attending in-person school all year, but even if we have to return to remote schooling, students will be able to take this text home with them. This text -- written by Canadian author Michael Ondaatje who is originally from Sri Lanka--is a historical text that tells the story of Billy the Kid through multiple genres. We want to use this unique novel as a mentor text for our students--not only learning about the life of William Bonney after the Lincoln County War. After reading this novel, students will research and write their own pieces using Ondaatje's techniques.
