Funded Jul 6, 2021Thank you so much for your gracious donations to our class project. My students started jumping around and cheering when our popcorn items showed up.
We are able to use the popcorn machine and accessories on special days as well as when my students just need a healthy snack because they are hungry. If students show up late and missed breakfast they know they can get some popcorn. If students don't have a snack for the day, they know popcorn is always available. It gives them a little sense of security knowing there is something for them to eat.
One of our favorite activities to do is Flashlight Friday. On Fridays, we make popcorn, students pick a spot, and we shut off the lights. Then students use a flashlight to read their book. They always look forward to it, and the popcorn machine has made it more it special.”

Innovative Thinking...Here We Come!
Funded May 26, 2020In a time where the school year is so much different than normal, I cannot adequately describe the impact your donations have had for my students. At the start of the year, my students were coming every other day and were not able to leave their desks. At recess, they were not able to play on the playground. It was very different from how typical school normally is. Your donations provided my students with stimulating and fun "brain breaks" they could do by themselves at their desks. Each student student could pick an item to have for the week that would get sanitized over the weekend and then they could pick a new item the following week. Things have slowly loosened up a bit, and my students are now able to create and build with another student, but they are still so happy to have these items.
My students minds are always blown that people that do not even know them, donate to our class so that they can have AWESOME activities and supplies. My students were so excited to see all the new STEM activities they received and had a hard time deciding which one they wanted to use/do first!
Coming into the cold winter months, I know my students are going to be so grateful to have these STEM activities to use and stimulate their minds with during the long months of indoor recess. We are so grateful for all of your generous donations!”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 6 other donors.Chromebooks for Students
Funded Jun 22, 2019My third grade class and I have been back in school for about three weeks now. The new chrome books were a BIG deal for the students to get greeted by on the first day of school. There were lots of proclamations of, "This is the best class ever!" and "I can't believe we each get our own to use!" We practiced a lot of routines and procedures on how to properly handle and use the chrome books and the students have really stepped up to the plate with the responsibility of handling them with care and using them appropriately.
These chrome books are so so crucial and beneficial to our classroom learning. The thing I knew we NEEDED these chrome books for was to use them for the website zearn.org. This program aligns with our Eureka/EngageNY math curriculum which is very rigorous. Zearn provides the additional support and scaffolding that my students need to be successful. My students also enjoy using the chrome books for teachyourmonstertoread.com, xtramath.org, mobymax.com, and typing.com.
In this ever-evolving world, computer sciences are a must for students to be educated in. This week I started my students on a coding program. When I was explaining to my students what coding was there was quite a few moans and groans but as soon as my students got the opportunity to actually use the program they were addicted. They are now well on their way to getting a computer to behave how they want it to and creating their own content.
The year is still very fresh and I am so excited for other ways we will be able to utilize the classroom set of chrome books this year and the years beyond. There are minimal students in our school who even have internet at home so being able to have 1-1 chrome books is completely amazing and gives my students so many opportunities. I cannot possibly express my thanks and gratitude enough for your generosity. Just know, you have strongly, positively impacted the learning environment of my students and my future students in the years to come.”
With gratitude,
