The reading intervention class that I teach is for students that have an SRI
lexile level that ranges from BR to 400. Some of my students are newcomers
that speak Spanish or Arabic. Other students are native English speakers. The
SRI does not give me much data; especially for my students that score BR. All
of my reading intervention students are in my class because they struggle
being able to navigate the English language and show major growth (at least
two hundred point or more by the end of a school year) on the SRI district
assessment. As a result my site decided to implement the use of LLI and the
Fountas and Pinnell assessments to see and celebrate students reading and
comprehension growth.
