  • Wanted: Library Essentials

    Thank you so much for your generous donations. The students in our class are really eager to enjoy all of the books. They have been savoring them during independent reading and they take turns sitting in the bean bag chairs to get lost in a good book. In particular, the Tia Lola series has been very popular. The Keena Ford books are also getting snapped up and there is a waiting list for students to read them. However, all of them definitely appreciate and enjoy the books where the kids on the cover look like them.

    Our book cart has also come in very handy. Many of our students enjoy reading nonfiction books and the cart enables us to sort them by category. The students like the responsibility of maintaining the cart and the library by making sure that the books are placed in the correct bins so that they can be easily located and savored.

    Our class has benefitted by being empowered to care for the books and by seeing literature that reflects the diversity and cultures of our population.”
