Being a teacher of second grade makes me extremely happy, & each school year becomes my new favorite! Second graders are very self-focused, often honest with their specific likes & dislikes. They dislike taking risks & making mistakes, so the need for security & structure is necessary for success. Second graders are also highly social, energetic, & competitive which always makes things in our classroom fun; we keep each other engaged! They are highly interested in how things work & love explaining their ideas. Although I give differentiated assignments & activities, I expect high-quality finished products, as I want each student to always strive to do his or her best & never settle for anything less. The best part of my career is watching each child uniquely grow over time not just physically, but socially, emotionally, & academically. "Do what you love, and you'll never work another day in your life."
