I am teaching the English side of the Dual Immersion Program in second grade. My students are 7 and 8 years old. They are building a foundation for reading at this age. It is said that students learn to read so that they can read to learn. I want my students to not only learn to read but to develop a love of reading. This love of reading will benefit them through out their lives. Kindle Fires are a great way to utilize technology and inspire kids to read but they also need covers to safe guard against damage. As my students work to develop fluency and reading skills it is important to provide them with access to authentic reading experiences. We use the Kindle Fires during reading centers and need to have a protective case in order to extend the life of the device.
