The use of manipulatives is a daily activity in my classroom during center time. During this time, my students are allowed to choose manipulatives from the shelf. A greater selection of manipulatives will provide the students an opportunity to choose items of interest, make plans to create, and change their plan when a different idea comes to mind. The manipulatives will provide the students the opportunity to work on math skills like counting, matching shapes, identifying numbers and connecting activities to strengthen the small muscles in their hands to prepare to use writing tools
