Funded Oct 8, 2021We are back in our buildings socially distanced with masks, disinfecting sprays and wipes. We're teaching with masks, talking through masks; learning how to adapt to the "new normal".
The "Say it; Don't Spray it" project has provided for our scholars opportunities to safely de-mask and interact with each other. This project allows members of the Interventionist team to speak to and hear from our scholars without the barrier of the masks.
With our desk shields, our English Learner teacher can deliver a lesson on the pronunciation of content vocabulary uninhibited-the scholars can HEAR the teacher say the words; the teacher can HEAR the scholars say the words. Both can watch to see how the mouth must position to form the words.
During our Reading block, we can check for engagement as we are discussing passages and questions because our faces can safely be uncovered.
When one groups leaves, we are able to sanitize and disinfect our shields and desk tops before our next group of scholars enter.
Thanks for helping us to bridge our former practices with our pandemic norms.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Erby
