Flex Your Muscles, Flex Your Mind: Flexible Seating

Funded Nov 24, 2018

I can not express to you the amount of joy I had when I saw that our project was funded. It wasn't just from the fact that we were getting some cool bouncy chairs or sound reducing foam, it was more that a couple was as generous as you were without even knowing us.

The lesson of humanity and giving that you gave to my students inspired them and myself. We talk all the time about being a good person and doing your best; that's what makes you "rich". Your example of kindness will forever touch their hearts.

I'd like to share my reflection of the items you donated. First, the bouncy balls. Oh my gosh, they drove me crazy, seeing the kids jump up and down so much, but I knew that it was best for kids and eventually I got very used to them. I actually LOVE LOVE LOVE them and highly suggest them for adults. It keeps your back straight and your body energized because you're in constant motion.

Now the sound reducing foam. I did not use it for what I had originally planned, but I did end up creating a really cool area for the kids, the Cozy Cafe. One day my whiteboards got replaced and I saw these big beautiful pieces of cardboard and I knew I needed to make something of it. So I stapled the foam to the bottom and hung it from the wall and ceiling. I stuck some lamps through it and voila! I had a nice cozy, quieter place for students who prefer quiet.

The chair bands are perfect for my kids who fidget! They are across 7 of my chairs (I'm keeping a few as back up) and they love them. It makes the normal chairs more fun.

Thank you so much for being our donor. I can honestly say I have the coolest classroom in the school...maybe even the district, thanks to you!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Van Ness
