Remote learning materials for students with ASD
Funded May 28, 2020My students were able to use these materials at the end of the school year and over the summer. Parents shared that students were able to work independently using the fine motor jars and were engaged in sensory play using the blocks to build in water. Parents were also thankful for the counting materials as they added extra support for students that needed hands on materials to grasp math concepts. I was told that the students were very excited to see and open the new materials when they arrived in the home. The next steps for my students are to increase their independent working skills and engagement by using materials that grasp their attention while challenging them to increase their abilities.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 10 other donors.Independence is Important !
Funded Dec 30, 2018Thank you for supporting my students and funding my "Independence is important" project. From the moment my students helped me open the box, they were interested in using the supplies. Students were able to explore the materials and then taught how to do the various tasks.
Students are working independently on these task as well as learning and using other skills. My students are able to work on their fine motor skills when using these materials which is such an important skill. The students are also identifying the numbers, colors, shapes, and letters on the different materials, which is amazing! I initially created this project to gain materials that my students could use independently, but this project has helped my students in more ways than one.
One of my students that needs prompting to complete most activities is now able to complete one of the put in tasks from this project, with minimal prompting. My class and I are truly grateful for your generosity.”
