  • Building a Thinking Classroom

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your contribution in helping my classroom become more of a thinking classroom. The students were very excited to see the white boards when they arrived. They knew right away that they would be used during our Thinking Classroom parts of the day.

Part of Thinking Classrooms is that students have a wipeable and vertical workspace. The whiteboards have helped to assist in making our classroom a true thinking classroom. I have seen students collaborate, think through challenges and help themselves and each other persevere. I can see they are growing and learning so much through your donation.”

  • Comfortable Seating for Learning!

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

Thank you so much for your support in helping to make my classroom a more comfortable learning environment. My project consisted of a large classroom rug, small class rug and stools for my small group table. Although this may not have seemed like a large project, the impact has been incredible.

My students get very excited for independent reading time. They love being able to be comfortable on the rug. They are able to partner read, participate in book clubs and come together as a class for a read aloud. A big part of learning, is being excited and comfortable and our area rugs have done just that.

The stools have made it much easier for students to efficiently transition from independent work to small group time. Before having stools, students would have to bring over their chairs. This would cause disruption and a loss of valuable learning time. We now are able to have longer small group time because of our quick transitions. A large portion of learning happens in small groups, so I am so thankful for the stools that now create a smooth transition.”

  • Book Club Books

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

I can’t thank you enough for giving the gift of reading to my students. These book titles will allow more options during book clubs and research clubs. My students love to collaborate with each other during these 2 units and now I will have more books and more options for them to choose from. I appreciate your generous donations in wanting to fill my library with these amazing book titles. I can't wait to see the excitement when I tell my students this project was funded. Thank you again so much for supporting my classroom!”

  • Flexible Seating for Learning Success!

    Funded Aug 6, 2019

I want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your generosity in helping to make my classroom dream of flexible seating come to life. We started our classroom with regular desks and chairs. On the first day of school, I was able to let my students know that my project for flexible seating was fully funded. My room erupted in excitement and questions about our new seating. While we waited for our package to arrive, we planned our flexible seating expectations, how we would set the room up, and how we would choose our seats. Before our package even arrived, students were taking accountability for their own learning. They knew that they would get to choose a seat where they would learn the best. They were excited, prepared and eager as we waited for our materials to arrive.

When our flexible seats arrived, we put them together as a class. Since we have been using our flexible seating, I have noticed more students taking ownership of their own learning. Students know which seats work for them and which seats don't. They don't choose a seat that looks fun, but rather one that will allow them to learn. Our flexible seating has strengthened our schools core beliefs of accountability, integrity and respect in the classroom.

I am excited to continue to implement more flexible seating choices in my classroom as I can see how much of an impact it has on my students. Not only has this impacted my students, but it has also helped me as a teacher. My room is more more open and less cluttered. During times when I need to confer with individual students, I am able to get to them much easier then having to work around desks. With having tables at different levels, everyone can see my white board at all times.

I can not thank you enough for having such a positive impact on my students. Thank you for caring about our future and for believing in student centered learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Steshoski

I have 25 active 3rd graders who need a variety of seating options especially during independent reading and writers workshop. Currently, I only have a few flexible seating options and I can see the benefits for the few students who are able to use them. I want to make sure every student in my classroom has a learning environment and seat where they can be successful and comfortable. While some students benefit from traditional desks and chairs, many students need a non-traditional seat. Many teachers who use flexible seating state that they can see many benefits including physical health, comfort and a commitment and motivation to learning. It is my hope that these supplies will benefit my students to be comfortable, focused and motivated to continue to learn and grow in the classroom.
