An Art Class to Remember: Painting, Drawing, Photography Tools
Funded Dec 23, 2024From our small school community, we want to say thank you. Arts classes tend to be the first classes cut for budget constraints but remain one that students remember throughout their lives. Having the confidence to try new materials and styles is so important to giving our kids the chance to express themselves. With cameras, pastels, paintbrushes and drawing tablets, you helped give my students lasting memories. From painting on our lockers with famous paintings, drawing portraits of people in our lives in pencil, and looking through another's eyes with pastels, thank you.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Herzek

Funded May 28, 2022Words cannot describe the enthusiasm that your gifts have brought. The pandemic caused so many of our extroverted students to look for new hobbies that could be done independently at home, without socializing or interacting with others. However this has been very isolating for them, understandably. My main goal is to have my students interact with one another, learn from one another, and have the best possible tools and resources at their disposal. Resources that would be available to them if they lived in other districts, cities, or states.
Your donation has helped spark so much enthusiasm. Seeing students excited over drawing skeletons to learn anatomy, and being able to see their drawings on display on a storage organizer has helped them not only feel pride and confidence in their work but to also talk to one another and learn from each other. Students have already asked to start naming the skeleton and skulls and asked to start drawing from them already. Within 5 minutes, they have started noticing where the orbital of the eye falls and why the shadows exist in eyes where they exist. This is a such a great hands-on lesson not only in art, but in science and anatomy.
My goal and next steps will continue to be leveling the playing field for my students and giving them tools that they can grow from and learn from. This generation's artists wouldn't be where they are without your ongoing support so thank you once again.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Herzek

Funded Nov 2, 2021There are no words to describe how thankful my students and myself are for the donations that you gave. Since receiving the cameras we ordered, students have begun seeing themselves as real photographers as opposed to amateurs and their self--confidence has sky-rocketed. They've started naming techniques like shutter speed and aperture, and have learned how to demonstrate compositional elements in their photographs, as seen in the photos I'm attaching.
One student in particular who has had trouble fitting in has found his niche with photography and has started asking me questions about event photography, how much a camera would cost for him to get his own and start his own business. These skills and achievements would have been impossible without help from you.
Students have become excited to come to class each day - some days even running in from their previous classes out of enthusiasm. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Herzek
