New Year, New Needs!
Funded Sep 23, 2024Thank you so much for donating to our latest project, we are truly grateful!
Because of you, our classroom library is organized and the student's books are placed in durable bins that are easily accessible. The children enjoy being able to independently borrow books from our library on a weekly basis.
We've also been able to use the dry erase markers and love that the eraser is attached to the top of the marker! We use this mainly for word work in the morning and are so glad that we have enough markers for all the students to use.
The sharpie markers are used to "publish" our work. We often do craft activities where a writing component is included. In order for the reader to easily read our fantastic writing, we write over it with a sharpie marker. A few of our latest projects are on view outside our classroom.
Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you've made our classroom a great place to learn and have fun!”

An Organized Classroom Is a Fun Place to Learn!
Funded Sep 20, 2023Thank you so much for your very generous Donation to our latest project. Thanks to you, our classroom is a more organized and fun place to learn.
The cushions make for a comfortable place for the students to do their work.
Our nifty pencil dispenser is a wonderful addition to the classroom. This keeps the pencils visible to the children and means that they can be problem solvers if they need a new pencil.
Our school mascot is a wolf so the additional decorations build that sense of community that we all belong to at PS 153.
Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!”

Field Trip Fun!
Funded May 11, 2023Thank you so much for donating to our project. We were so happy when we found out that our project was fully funded. The children were so excited to try on their high visibility vests, it made them feel so special!
Because of your generosity, we can feel safe taking our students to the many field trips that our wonderful city has to offer. The vests are especially great for outdoor trips where there are also other children. We can see them at all times and ensure that they are safe and enjoying themselves!
We look forward to continuing to use these great vests as well as the other necessary materials that your kindness has provided!”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Supporter and 4 other donors.Keeping It Clean!
Funded May 29, 2022Thank you so much for donating to our project. As a result of your generosity, we now have a vacuum cleaner at our disposal. That means that our rug will remain clean. This is so important as many of our lessons take place while the students are sitting on the rug. Cleanliness is so important in today's classroom.
In addition, we plan on showing the children the importance of looking after our environment as we vacuum our rug. Eventually, we may even have one of the students vacuum when needed! This will also build a sense of ownership and community within our classroom.”

Loving the Skin You're In!
Funded Mar 1, 2022Thank you so much for giving to our project "Loving the Skin You're In." In our world today, it's so important for our students to see the value of our diversity and appreciate each other's differences. This is something that should be both recognized and celebrated! Thanks to your generosity, our students got to see and experience how our skin is many different colors. They had so much fun picking our the crayon that matched their skin tone as well as helping each other choose a crayon that matched them! This led us into the conversation of how we may look different on the outside, but we're all the same on the inside. We all have a heart that feels and loves! What a wonderful lesson that these students will carry with them for the rest of their lives!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Sweet Seats!
Funded Oct 5, 2021Thank you so much for your wonderful donation! When the deliver came in the students were so happy! They were all excited and could not wait to see what came in. Upon arriving in the classroom the next day, they were very eager to try out the new seats. They all wanted turns.
This addition into our Flexible seating has helped our students do their best learning in a comfortable and supportive environment. The students love being able to have choice and ownership in their learning. In taking a break from their regular chairs and seats, the children are able to take the time to enjoy their learning while feeling cozy in their new bean bag and flexi-chair. They especially love using these chairs while using the iPads and digital devices for independent reading. The students all take turns with these chairs and are more motivated to complete tasks when they are given the opportunity to switch up their seats.”

Rug Spots!
Funded Dec 1, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation! Thanks to you, our classroom is a brighter, more welcoming place!
We were so excited as we placed our brand new rug in our Meeting Area. However, we were even more excited to share the rug with our students. The look on their little faces as they walked into the classroom and saw the new rug was priceless. They were so grateful and especially loved the different color of dots.
The dots work really well in reminding the students to "stay on their color." This means that we can meet on the rug as a group while the students stay a safe distance away form each other.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 5 other donors.See It in Color!
Funded Nov 7, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation. We now have a color printer at our disposal! Children will notice colorful charts quicker than ones in black and white. Having our charts in color also help the students retain the information. An example of this is our Mood Meter chart. We also made a "Size of the Problem" and "Text Features" chart. These charts help the students take charge of their own emotions. They also help the student understand the features that they see in their "just right" books.
As you can see, our color printer has made our classroom more welcoming and has given our students a better learning experience!”

Seasonal Watercolors!
Funded May 7, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity in funding our Seasonal Watercolor project. The students got so excited to see the box of paints arrive at our classroom! The boys and girls loved painting with their brand new paintings. They enjoyed the pleasure of being the first to paint with the new watercolors. We learned our May vocabulary words, then used those words to draw a May scene. The scenes included Memorial Day, fields of flowers, Mother's day celebrations to name a few.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We appreciate your support so much.”

The Custom Colorful Classroom!
Funded Jan 26, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation. We now have a color printer at our disposal! Children will notice colorful charts quicker than ones in black and white. Having our charts in color also help the students retain the information. An example of this is our pattern counting chart. We also made some reminders and checklists in color. These are placed on our student's desks. We've made a "Packing Up" checklist that the kids love and use every day! We've also made a schedule for the students that have additional services. Now, they can check their own personal schedule to see what their school has in store for them. This alleviates anxiety and gives the students a sense of control.
As you can see, our color printer has made our classroom more welcoming and has given our students a better learning experience!”
