I can’t tell you how excited my students will be for the opportunity to sit on something other than a hard chair or floor. Math can be a particularly challenging time of day for a lot of my students. Not many adults know how to find the mean, median and mode of a data set or the area of a rectangular prism but my 5th graders can. They are truly amazing! My hope is to create a comfortable space that fits my 21st century learner’s needs and is more conducive to learning these difficult concepts. With 11 new spaces to sit, my students will each get the chance to focus in a space of their choice that is safe and cozy during either Math or Science each day. The bean bag chair will be a big hit and the giant pillows, yoga balls and floor chair will be amazing for group work. Flexible seating allows for an increase in active learning and collaboration which leads to more success!
