  • Prioritizing Organizing

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Thank you so much for helping to fund these resources for our classroom! The shelving units and the Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Card have been put to great use by both myself and my students. We genuinely appreciated all your support as we began the school year with a fresh set of storage shelves and money for fun and engaging educational projects.

After moving to a new classroom I had very little storage for my teaching materials. I was in need of a solution to organize and house may of my teaching materials for both whole group and small group instruction. The shelving units have helped tremendously in keeping things neat and tidy around the classroom.

Every year I look to add engaging resources to my personal files to help make lessons fun and relevant. The $100 Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has helped me add a variety of resources to my personal library that my students can enjoy for years to come.

Thank you again for your kindness in supporting our classroom. We sincerely appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. J.

  • Artsy Scientists in Our Room!

    Funded Oct 22, 2019

Thank you so much for funding this classroom project! The chart paper has completely changed the landscape of my classroom and has made it possible for students to see what we are learning in each subject at any point in time. I have created a set of anchor charts for each subject and have organized them into the spiral bound chart paper pads for easy access. My students absolutely loved seeing the life cycle of the butterfly in action and we even used the watercolors and paper to paint the butterfly life cycle! This project really made our learning come to life through the utilization of art. Finally, the pencils came in handy after we ran out of our pencils from the beginning of the year. I am excited to use the anchor charts and butterfly life cycle with my upcoming class and I look forward to seeing their learning in action! From myself and all of my students: thank you so much!”

  • Starting the Year Out Strong!

    Funded Jul 26, 2019

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in funding our classroom project! My students have been using all of the resources from this project daily. We have been using the stools at my small group table and I have been able to fit more students into my small group space through the utilization of the stools. The doorbell has been an awesome attention getter for my second graders! Every time they hear the doorbell they know that they need to freeze and wait to the next direction. This doorbell has saved my voice and has been a fun way to engage the students by changing the bell chime sound! The headphones have made such a difference by allowing students to do listening stations during small group reading time. This has helped the kids hear how fluent readers sound and gives them a chance to read along with the print as they listen to the story. My students were so excited when they saw our new materials and were anxious to use them right away! From all of us in my classroom: thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. J.

  • Roaring for Research Resources!

    Funded May 17, 2019

Thank you so much for funding this project! My students have been having an amazing time learning more about the animals they love and gaining new information about animals they are not yet experts on! We have been able to dive deeper into the world of non-fiction text features using these resources. Last year I gave each student one of the National Geographic books and we went on a non-fiction text feature scavenger hunt to find as many text features as we could! Afterwards each student presented their findings with 3 new facts they learned about their animal. These books have kept my students engaged and interested in new topics that push them past the boundaries of fictional text. They have been making meaningful connections between these books and other subjects we have been talking about such as geography and literature. From all the students in my second grade class: thank you so very much!”

  • Making Our Classroom Home

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

Thank you so much for the donation of the rug, book bins, and blue paper organizers. We have been enjoying all of the new items and utilizing them daily in our classroom. We use the carpet daily for a variety of activities such as independent reading, small group work, and daily classroom meetings. The student in my classroom love the carpet and it really adds a homey touch to our room. The students especially love that there are cursive letters on the carpet! We have been spending lots of time learning about cursive letters and practicing them in our spelling packets so it has doubled as an excellent resource for the kids to use when they get stuck on how to form a letter. The books bins have been a big help in our room as well! My students love book shopping and being able to store their weekly books in their bins. After receiving the book bins we began a routine of "book shopping" each Monday morning. During this time students would return the books to the classroom library they used the previous week and get new books to read throughout the upcoming week. This became a weekly ritual that the students loved and were able to take ownership over. I used the blue paper organizers as classroom mailboxes for my students. Each student had a labeled slot where I could return papers and pass out newsletters/ forms/ etc. Every time I would finish grading work I would have students file the work in the mailboxes. This added classroom jobs and gave students more responsibility. When our materials arrived the students were ecstatic! Our assistant principal delivered the materials during the school day so we could open all of the packages together. It was so exciting to be able to share the experience of opening the new resources with my students! It is an experience I know I will never forget. Thank you again for your support! It will leave a lasting impact on my classroom and the lives of many students.”

    Ms. J.

Reading is one of the most crucial skills that students develop in second grade. In order to promote reading fluency and stamina, my students read individually every day, twice a day. After developing a strong foundation in first grade, students progress into second grade eager to find the types of books that interest them the most. In order to do this, students need to have a variety of texts to explore. My goal is for students to book shop every Monday putting books into their book bins. My hope is that they will add a variety of genres and writing styles to their weekly book selections. The book bins will act as an organizational tool to help the students stay focused on the books they have chosen to read during the week. We can also interlock the bins, making our space more functional and organized. One of the coziest aspects of a home is a good carpet, and that is exactly what we need for our room! In order to make our classroom space our own, we need a rug to act as a central meeting spot for morning meetings, class pep talks, and individual reading time. I believe that students do their best work when they are comfortable in their space, so I feel confident that this addition will help my students perform better academically and feel more relaxed when working at school. The carpet will not only act as a comfortable space in the room, but I also feel it is academically appropriate. Students begin learning how to write in cursive in second grade, so I believe the rug will be a great way to visually enforce this skill at all times throughout the year.
