These four iPad minis will be used during center time to provide differentiated practice time for each student and develop responsible digital citizenry in my students. We will use these daily to explore/study our current science topic of study, practice building phonics skills, build automaticity in our math, and improve our writing skills by using word processing programs to create stories. During center time, children rotate through various centers such as art, poetry, science, math, and guided reading with me. These iPads will help me individualize this center time more and engage students in a valuable activity while I teach reading to small groups. These iPads will allow small groups of students time to learn on an individualized level during center time. By using resources such as ST Math, Lexia Core5, and Starfall, students will learn that technology is a tool to build knowledge. These iPads will "bridge the technological divide" that exists between my low-income and more affluent students and provide ALL of my students with the opportunity to improve skills while learning how to use technology appropriately.
