Many of my speech-language students are motivated to do homework. They work on speech sounds, basic concepts, and other language skills with their parents on a regular basis. This speeds up their progress and limits the amount of time they will need speech therapy. The students can laminate their speech homework folders and decorate them before taking them home. Regular manilla envelopes fall apart within a few weeks and constantly need to be replaced. Parents end up throwing them away and homework sheets get lost in their backpacks. By having laminated envelopes they can decorate them with markers and seal in their pictures. I have the laminator, but the laminator pouches are expensive. It seems like a small thing, but having a nice looking, durable envelope that is laminated is very motivating to young students. Many of my students who are visual learners may also require a visual schedule to help them navigate their school days. Lamination pouches work great for creating them and changes to daily schedules can then be written in with dry erase markers.
