Full Belly, Happy Heart
Funded Oct 23, 2024I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of healthy snacks for our after-school program. Your support has made a significant impact on my students, especially the English language learners who rely on the after-school program for extra academic support. These students often face long days, and the healthy snacks you provided have given them the energy and motivation to stay engaged and focused as they continue their learning journey. The snacks have not only helped them feel more energized, but they've also fostered a sense of community and well-being in the program.
When my students first saw the new snacks, their faces lit up with excitement! Many of them were so grateful to receive something they could enjoy and that would keep them full of energy. This small yet thoughtful gift has motivated them to attend regularly, knowing that they will have a healthy treat to fuel their minds and bodies. For many of my students, it's the boost they need to persevere through challenges and to stay positive, making it easier to focus on mastering content and developing their English language skills.”

This classroom project was brought to life by .Really Cells? Good Quality Microscopes!
Funded Nov 8, 2019We use resources like the microscope in different ways. For example we use the microscopes and slides to observe red onion cells in water and in salted solution and thus see the differences. From this the students could understand the diffusion process. Also, we used them to learn and compare the microscopic structure of the plant stem and thus decide which of them was more closely related. One of the first activities was to know the parts of the microscope and its function and how to use it properly.
My students were very excited because most of them had never use the microscope before. All my students are teenagers who have just arrived in the United States and come from countries or places where they have not had access to technology or additional resources. It has been a very rewarding and exciting experience because seeing their faces of happiness, enthusiasm and motivation makes me feel with great pride and satisfaction.
My future plans are to integrate the use of the microscope in different research projects. For example, I would like them to investigate the differences between animal and plant cells seen with the microscope. I would also like to carry out an investigation to know the microorganisms present in freshwater and if it is possible to look for samples in a river or local aquatic ecosystem.
Once again I am thankful for your contribution and support.”
