Once Upon a Reading Try

Thank you for the lovely gift of the fulfillment of my donor's choose project Once Upon A Reading Try that you sent to my students at Walter Francis Bishop PS 160 Q. Your gift brightened my day, and it continues to brighten my classroom and school.

My students continue to use these books since their delivery. They have a new found love and appreciation for text now. Not only does the general population of my class enjoy the library but so does the New English Learners. They are able to read the same books that interest their peers in their native language.

The students have learned how to be bilingual readers from revisiting familiar texts like Captain Underpants. It has allowed my new students who do not speak English well to also learn more spoken and written English. This new influx of books has allowed my students as a class to enjoy the new books and revive their love for reading.

Reading looks like a real library in my classroom now. They are so eager to read and complete more book logs with this library. Their love for reading is expanding also with multicultural texts to support diversity in our communities. They are excited to share their new books with their 2nd-grade reading buddies.
