My students look at school as a safe, comfortable space to come to every day. Most of my students come from low income families and often come to school without breakfast, making it hard to focus and learn. While they are already fighting against their personal struggles to focus and learn, it is impossible to pay attention when you're uncomfortable too! My students need a new classroom carpet where they can sit comfortably and learn every day. Few of the early childhood classrooms in my school have carpets, requiring my students to sit on the cold, hard floor. The rugs we do have are old, dirty, and stained. My students would greatly appreciate a new, clean space to sit and learn!
