Have you ever tried to teach 14-18 year old students how to move their bodies in new, very specific ways? How about trying to explain how their feet, knees, hips, abs, rib cage, shoulders and head should look at any given moment? And the most difficult of all...how would you explain to a student what his or her sound looks like? Through third-party apps, an iPad can assist students to see what correct marching technique really looks like through video analysis. This type of visual learning is similar to one learning the breakdown of how they swing a baseball bat. Many times people don’t realize the inefficiencies in their performance until they actually see it. This learning tool will promote more engagement and awareness of their bodies as they progress through the marching season! Another way this iPad will serve my students is as a resource to see their sound and record their playing assignments daily. Many ways students can receive individual feedback through apps like Google Classroom, SmartMusic or Tonal Energy. This iPad will help students understand the faults that can be quickly improved! This iPad can ultimately serve as a tool that will help students find more success in their playing/marching. This increase in their abilities will have a positive reinforcement in who they are as a person!
