Inspiring Authors
Funded Mar 16, 2021Thank you so very much for all of your generous donations to my classroom. This year has been nothing but unique and stressful at the same time. My students were so inspired and eager to write a book about the "Pandemic" that will become a part of History someday! Thank you so much for your care and empowering my classroom full of young writers a chance to become authors of a published book of their very own.”
With gratitude,

Funded Dec 27, 2018Words cannot express the appreciation and gratitude my class and I are feeling. We love our supplies and use them everyday! This was my very first project and to get "funded" I was super exciting for my class and myself. Our project got fully funded a few days after Christmas and although we were on holiday break I couldn't wait to get back to school to tell my class. When we had our first "New Year" meeting on the rug I told my kiddos I have some great news for you, they all started guessing " you got a puppy for Christmas", no "she got a new car" they were so excited they couldn't sit still. Then I announced our "Donors Choose Project" got fully funded! They all started to jump around with pure happiness it was a beautiful moment to see. I told them it would take a few weeks for the supplies to arrive.
The day finally came and we got a call from the office "Ms. Eklund some packages arrived for you " Mr. White is on his way up. Since we were in the middle of a math lesson when the boxes were delivery I acted like I didn't know what was in them. We finished our math lesson and then I gathered them on the rug and said "301" these boxes are from very generous people from all over the world!" Some kiddos looked a little confused then Leo called out" these are our supplies from "donors choose!" The class erupted like a volcano, they were so excited I think the whole third floor wing heard them!
We are a testing grade and we are taking the state tests for the very first time, so we need to sharpen a lot of pencils and take a lot of practice tests and we need a quiet area to work in and those privacy partitions are perfect for that. It gives the students privacy while they work and takes the pressure off of realizing who's finished and who is still working. I remember one particular day a student came up to me and said "Ms. Eklund I need some quiet time to work can I get a privacy partition to keep me focused?" Wow I said to myself. The flex chairs I have deemed "the learning chairs" the students use them for group, partner and independent work as well, it helps them feel comfortable while completing their class work . Since this is their first year learning their multiplication facts the "multiplication power pens and flash card sets" are a wonderful learning tool for them. The power pens are great because we can use them with the sound on of off. They are so excited to work and practice their facts in a fun and easy way. The students are learning so much that when we have indoor recess the students request to work on their facts with the pens and flash cards. Thank you for also sending us some 'Super Hero pens they kiddos love them too we use them in writers workshop as "super pens "if they are having "writers block" I tell them pick a super hero pen and they will assist you in coming up with a wonderful idea to write about!
Thank you so very much for all these wonderful learning items I will use them in the years to come in my classroom, they are all furthering and assisting not only my students learning but also how to share and use these supplies on a daily basis. This is a wonderful company and I so very much appreciate all of their generosity. Every time visitors or other teachers come in my room and comment, "wow those chairs are so cute" or "I love those pens." My kiddos comment back and say we can thank Donors Choose for them!!!”
