The materials that I chose are all going to help students build confidence in themselves. The first week of school, we will be tie dying shirts with our school colors. Some students don't have blue shirts to wear on spirit days, so this will allow all students to have something to wear despite their family's financial situation. The majority of the money goes to buying acrylic to use in our laser cutter which will provide students with confidence in the fact that they are creating a professional looking product that they can be proud of as it will be displayed in the classroom. This year they will be designing their own classroom, so these will before the art of the theme that they choose. Students will feel confidence and pride through using the Scholastic math magazine at the middle school level, even though they are 5th graders. The magazine provides real world math that is slightly above the level of what is being taught in the math curriculum. Students will see that they are able to do these problems and also see how math will be necessary in the jobs that they want for the future. I also have added in a speaker that has 2 microphones. Some students are not confident when they are speaking and therefore speak very quietly. This machine will help everyone in the class hear these speakers and therefore build their confidence as less questions will be asked to them due to being inaudible.
