The artificial grass rug coupled with the lawn chairs in this project are intended to create a fun and outdoorsy place for children to read. These items will be placed in front of a large wall mural depicting a camper. This space will provide a comfortable place for kids to relax and enjoy a good book. Research tells us that making books more accessible to children positively increases the amount of time children spend reading. This grant not only will provide a cozy retreat to read but also a wide variety of books to meet the needs of many different levels of readers. Books included in this grant are The Flat Stanley collection, The Little Red Hen, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, Caps for Sale: A Tale of a Peddler Some Monkeys and Their Monkey Business, Danny and the Dinosaur, The Boxcar Children Books 1-4, Pippi Longstocking, Mr. Popper's Penguins, and Nate the Great. They will be used with early finishers and during D.E.A.R. time.
