Snacks and Collaboration

The students at NPHS have gotten a lot of use out of the materials supplied by this funding. We have used the whiteboards and markers for presenting about a topic to small groups. The markers and glue have been used to create educational materials to hang around the classroom. Additionally, the students who lack access to enough food and snacks have been able to get the little boost they need to make their day better and keep going.
The students were very appreciative of the materials. They come in excited to see what snacks are available to them when they are hungry. The students also have enjoyed having such a wide variety of marker colors to choose from for projects that are nto dried out.
The materials supplied to my classroom have allowed the students to do a wide variety of projects and learn in many different ways. Overall, it has contributed to a much happier and healthier classroom climate.”

This visitor will give our students who are interested in going into occupations related to healthcare an important certification. First aid, CPR, and AED training is required for many jobs, even entry level. This certification can be expensive for young adults looking to get into jobs that might help them in the future. Allowing all the students in my Intro to Healthcare Occupations class the opportunity to walk away with a certification that will help them become more employable is paramount. This just might help someone who is financially limited stick with their dreams and aspirations. In addition to walking away with a certificate to help make the students more employable, it will give them meaningful hands on opportunities. First aid and CPR are one unit in our class and nothing makes a lesson more meaningful than doing hands on training. Reading about how to do the skills associated with first aid and CPR is not even close to as impactful as physically performing the tasks.
