Library Rug and Seating

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom project that provided first graders with a library rug and comfortable cushions for reading time. Making my classroom feel like a safe and cozy place to learn is important to help foster a love of learning in young students.

My first graders are able to use the cushions during reading to get excited about reading their books. They are always happy to cozy up with a book and practice what they are learning. They use their cushions on a rotating schedule so every student gets a chance to read with a cushion on their day of the week. It is an important and special time that they look forward to and treasure. We have been able to talk about responsibility and accountability by taking care of the cushions and rug they were given. We have talked a lot about what it looks like to take care of our classroom supplies and even as 6 year olds they are able to be responsible and show that they can take care of each other and our classroom.

Thank you for supporting my project. My students thank you as well because their classroom is a more comfortable and inviting place for them to learn. They love reading on their library rug and with their special cushions and having those supplies has made a difference in what they are able to do during reading time.
