  • Read and Reflect!

    Funded Jul 27, 2024

This project takes learning opportunities to another level. As we navigate through the year, each unit includes a project that allows students to reflect and make real-life connections to objectives and core literature. As we read Beowulf, the students will create life-life emblems and totems to present in representation of the epic poem. The swords and shields will be on display and of course the students are excited show and tell. This instills a level of competition and yields an opportunity for student and teacher real time feedback. The value of doing your best is honed through this project as students are also able to self-evaluate.

Learning is intended to be interesting and engaging. This project will provide a means to bring pen, paper, and ink to life. Thanks so much.”

  • Invitation to Learn!

    Funded Jul 27, 2024

The year is off to great start. With this project many amenities have come to life for my students. Our classroom is inviting and nurturing, which is definitely a key component to student success. The sense of belonging is most certainly a means of developing a learning community. The students feel committed to learning process when school is a home away from home.

The students are enjoying the ambience of wall decor. I have changed out the wall murals two so far. Right now, we are enjoying the forest back drop and an Asian inspired wall fabric. Seems to make the kids more inquisitive.

The bookshelves added an extra tough to house things that students can connect to various aspects of the real worlds. I know that the invitation to learning has impacted my students' interest in learning.”

  • Learning Manipulatives to Enhance Learning Outcomes

    Funded Jun 10, 2024

The material provided with this project definitely helped our class to get off to a good start. We were able as a class to create anchor charts utilizing the paper and to organize learning centers where students were able to create and reference our primary sources to aid in the instructional process.

The magnetic erasable paper enables the students to record feedback as whole group class activity making the class more student centered. I am able to provide real time feedback, and it enhances the learning outcome.

The remarkable is simply a remarkable tool to demonstrate and to share notes. The notes can be uploaded and utilized in the student's interactive notebook folders. All of the learning tools provided with this project have made a tremendous difference in improving the learning environment.”

  • Incentives as Positive Reinforcement!

    Funded Apr 9, 2024

The year is almost over. The students have worked diligently in preparation for testing and end of the year check outs. Their hard work and dedication will definitely pay off as student learning is assessed and they are now tasked to demonstrate their progress.

Boot Camps and subject area tutorials are now in session. Some of the kids are anxious while others still need an extra boost. We attempt to motivate the students with games, activities, and competitions as a different approach to the modes of instruction throughout the year. The students get a kick out of the contest on academic platforms such as Kahoot, Quizlet, Quizzes, and Blooket. Their knowledge and application are matched with other students, and they are ranked in terms of mastery of learning objectives. This also allows room for review of questions and justification of answer choices. Students are rewarded prizes and treats.

The culminating activity will be a peep rally. The resources from this project will be utilized for concessions to reward participation and to further engage students in the learning process. Thank you so much for your contribution to student success.”

  • Social Emotional Productivity

    Funded Jan 4, 2024

The reaction from students during the unboxing was unexpected. Students had one hundred and one questions about the resources. The items didn't make sense, so we discussed how they would be used to initiate discussions about social and emotional well-being in a small group, whole group, or one on one sessions. It is also possible to gradually release students to utilize the discussion prompts to facilitate student led groups. Each set of discussion starters (cards and cubes) can be selected at random to ease tension and students are usually directed to volunteer as facilitators.

All of the resources are invaluable. The resources are readily shared with the counselors and other instructors. We are extremely grateful and have implented the social and emotional books and resources to establish a safe haven and confort zone for students. Thank you so cuch for providing a means to build build social and emotional awareness.”

  • Enhancing Literacy

    Funded Jan 29, 2024

The students are benefiting tremendously from the resources provided through this project. It has given my students an opportunity to engage in enjoying the oral aspects of literacy. Through the listening centers students are able to benefit from differentiated instruction that caters to the individual needs and abilities. This is plus for students who need enrichment and those who need individual opportunities to meet growth.

Appealing to auditory learners is also a really great way to increase the reality of promoting lifelong learning experiences. The materials gained supports listening and speaking skills. Students gain from listening to reports and presentations from classmates on content covered which definitely is rewarding. The engages student centered learning and promotes student accountability.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bennett

The goal is to provide an opportunity to engage the creative minds of young scholars. Funding will enable the development of a learning center that will function as a means to differentiate instruction and provide enriching experiences that will engage students who are more inclined to learn through technology. As an extension of literacy, students will also be able to explore the internet to gain instant access to online resources. Fostering a culture of learning that taps into the individual needs and learning styles of all students is a necessary step towards teaching today's students how they learn best. This resource center will provide tools to enable students to listen to literature while reading and to research extensions of the reading assignments at their fingertips. The adopted text provides links that can be accessed to hear narration of the text which would be a beneficial resource for auditory learners. Experiencing the text orally can also be utilized as a method of engaging literacy whereas the student can hear a voice reading fluently beyond peers and the instructors. Modeling fluency can be utilized as a way to captivate reluctant readers and to foster a culture of growth mindset in terms of literacy. Providing a reading center also allows an opportunity for differentiate instruction whereas the students will engage in learning experiences on individual need basis (remediation tool, individual educational program, needs assessment, enrichment for advanced learners). This will also afford the instructor to move forward with learners who demonstrate proficiency and mastery of content/learning objectives.
