The 60 books that I am requesting, The Crossover and Booked, are high interest books, written in verse. Students will be able to relate to the dual ideas of sports and music. If I can keep my students motivated in MY classroom, hopefully they will remain motivated in other classes as well. Students need books that are engaging and interesting. Sports, music, and family relationships are key. These books are written in verse form, easy to read, easy to analyze and easy to keep students attention. "The poems dodge and weave with the speed of a point guard driving for the basket, mixing basketball action with vocabulary-themed poems, newspaper clippings, and Josh's sincere first-person accounts that swing from moments of swagger-worth triumph to profound pain." —Publishers Weekly, starred review
