Innovation for the 21st Century
Funded Dec 4, 2020Thank you to PWC for funding this project and offering us this opportunity to grow our innovation lab. This will allow us to take on new challenges in problems solving, engineering design, and production. We look forward to what the future has in store for our current and future students.”

Funded Jun 13, 2019I have always wanted to integrate circuits into my 3d modelling class. It has been a goal of mine to provide the education necessary for my students to create electronic devices. I never had the courage to teach circuits. So many things could happen. They could short their circuit out, burn themselves, and it is a complex concept to teach.
This summer workshop was exactly the boost I needed to feel confident in teaching circuits in my class. I took the Computational Making course. In this course we learned how to work create circuits and work with the Arduino Uno board. With this board we were able to make electronic devices that could solve problems. A stand out moment in this class was when I learned how to use conductive thread. My partner and I created a shirt with an led light sewn into it that would turn on when it became dark. The circuit was simple but the execution of sewing this into a shirt was challenging and rewarding. I now have the equipment and the know how to effectively teach this year's students how to become 21st century problem solvers. Thank you donors!”

Funded Oct 4, 2018We would like to thank you for your support in purchasing our podcasting setup. Using this technology over the past few weeks has allowed our students to expand their knowledge of software, new types of hardware, and given them the confidence to put themselves out there in the world. This opportunity will give students a slight advantage in the fields of radio broadcast, sound editing for feature films, or in a career in online podcasting or on websites like YouTube.
The students love hearing their own voice through the equipment. It gives them the feeling that they are on their favorite radio station giving an interview or listening to their favorite podcast. They can still be a bit shy sometimes but after each podcast they can't wait for the next one. In time this will allow them to open up more and they will have more to share on air.
One of our students has really become enamored with this experience. He was already trying to produce his own music and has even distributed some of his music online. Having access to this higher quality hardware has helped him improve the quality of his own work. With each podcast edit he learns more and more about a technology he is passionate about.”
