Flex-Seating: Wiggle Chairs for Wiggly Kids

Thank you again for your donations towards my classroom wobble chairs! We are using these chairs to help all students focus as they learn. We take turns using them, as we only have 6 to share between 20 students. The students love using these to move around and get their wiggles out as they work! These chairs have helped reduce classroom behaviors, helped students focus on their work instead of their moving bodies, and also helped students practice and understand the importance of sharing!

When my classroom first received the chairs, it was comparable to Christmas Day! I brought the chairs to my room in boxes and opened them with the class. The atmosphere was that of excitement and pure joy! Every student was laughing and talking about how happy they were. This moment was the perfect opportunity to teach my kids about generosity. I explained how people who did not know us donated their own money to buy these wonderful wobble chairs.

The next steps for myself and my students are to eventually obtain more flexible seating options. I was just loaned a standing desk from the AEA here in Sioux City. My kids LOVE it already! It is only on loan for a few weeks so I would love to start another project for standing desks or other flexible seating options. I have seen firsthand how the importance of choice along with the ability to move while children learn positively affects brain growth. I would love nothing more than to supply these children with the resources that will help them academically and emotionally!”
