How can I ask my kindergarten students to seat on the carpet during reading time, when I know well what has been dropped in it? I wouldn't want my own children to be in that kind of environment. I've seen the custodian come into my classroom with the machine and quickly go over it and yet I know in my heart and my mind that the carpet is not clean. A clean classroom is what my students need to start their academic lives, free from unsanitary elements. Children's imaginations are limitless and they need to listen, add, change, discuss with their peers the multiple stories that will be read to them throughout their first academic year.
