Calculators, pencils and rulers are everyday tools in my our math classes. With calculators, students will be able to calculate all types of numbers (fractions, mixed numbers, integers, decimals etc), and encourages them to practice more. Some students are still struggling with fractions and decimal calculations, but with a calculators, they'll be able to calculate and solve equations/expressions quickly and efficiently. Calculators also help students who did not master their basic math skills in their previous grade levels. Everyday in almost every class periods, I have students asking for pencils or exchanging a pen for a pencil. I see frustrations on students' faces when they make mistakes on papers with pens. Most of the units in our curriculum, students need to use rulers, especially when we do hands-on activities. The rulers help them graph the lines and identify solutions of systems of linear equations from graphs, draw transformation of a certain figure and etc. If we have enough of these supplies, students will have the chance to check them out to help them with their assignments at home, and anywhere. They'll practice math even more, than studying it. Just by looking at math notes or the same math problem constantly won't help, but practicing different problems with the same concept, process and procedures help. With enough supplies of calculators, pencils and rulers, more and more students will be able to achieve the goal every single lesson.
