  • Extra! Extra! Science Helps Us Read!

    Funded Jun 29, 2019

We have used our magazines for structured academic controversies! I have had English Learners already have become more confident speaking out loud! I love watching them all get together and discuss current issues but relating it to the subject they are learning.

On the first day of school I asked my class which students loved science. Of the 250 students I teach, 10 total raised their hands. Now, I hear kids talking about how much they love coming to class and they are slowly learning to love science.

I am also sharing the magazines with the other science teachers, so your donation has now reached over 650 kids! We are using them as starters for class and we are also using them for claim, evidence, and reasoning models. We love these magazines!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Johnson

  • Thirsty for Sucess

    Funded Aug 28, 2018

We have been using our water bottles every single day. The students love being able to come in from recess and have a water bottle full of water waiting on their desk. It has cut down the "wait time" after recess and minimized trips to the bathroom. It has also improved student focus during whole group instruction as students have the water bottles right on their desk, ready to drink. Filling them up with water hasn't been a huge problem either, as students have really been responsible with their water bottles.

My students were so thrilled when they arrived and have not stopped talking about it still to this day! Thank you so much for helping us become better learners!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Johnson

My students are in a brand new school this year. We are experiencing all of the joys of maintenance and repair. A lot of times, water fountains don’t work and the students could travel a long distance down the hall to get one drink. Having a water bottle on the desk means less time spent finding water and less time missed on class instruction. These water bottles will be kept in the classroom to minimize loss. Each student will have their own personal water bottle and the ability to have access to a drink when they need it without missing out on important information in class.
