Our student population is an eclectic, scrappy group of which over half are from low-income, inner-city families. Just like our country's citizens, middle class families are disappearing. A small group of wealthy families round out our Title One International Baccalaureate high school. One in every five of our students is a special education child. Though we are the smallest of the three district high schools, many parents are attracted to the welcoming, helpful, family-oriented environment we promote. We are not a district special education magnet, though many such students can be found thriving and succeeding within our "house." Being the smallest high school campus in the district has its drawbacks in terms of obtaining the smallest piece of the district's financial "pie." These days, that slice of "pie" has come at the sacrifice of staffing (professional and para-professional). Grant monies have run out. Our campus struggles to maintain all educational services for the students.
