New Science Teacher - All I Have Is Chalk - Need Supplies!

I would like to express my gratitude for your donations to my project. We have had the materials for about two weeks and have already used them several times. The pictures that I have posted were from when we were learning how to calculate the density of an item. The materials really helped bring the science to life right in front of their eyes. I myself have also immensely benefited from the materials. It is much easier to plan my lessons with the proper materials. I no longer have to fight with other teachers to use the minimal materials we are supplied with.
As a first year, "green" teacher the help that you have provided is tremendous. I encourage you to continue giving as your gifts truly do change the lives of many. ”

This classroom project was brought to life by American Express Members Project and 5 other donors.

My students are a great bunch of kids who attend a public NYC middle school. There are about 150 of them and they range in grades 6 to 8 and represent a multitude of nationalities. They are eager to learn and explore the world but have never been given the opportunity. This class is going to help them expand their view of the world while promoting positive attitudes. It is difficult to ask them what they want to do when they grow up because they simply do not have the knowledge of the world. I hope to be able to give them a well rounded multicultural view giving them the ability to ultimately make an impact on this world.
