Being able to move while sitting down helps many children who normally can't sit still, stay seated and focus more on learning. The wiggle stools will allow them to wiggle while they work. My students are all four and five years old and have difficulties being in school and keeping still.
Small developing bodies benefit from sitting on flexible seating options as they work to develop better trunk control. These options will also help students who have trouble focusing to concentrate on their work. Sitting in a chair the majority of the day isn't an easy task, especially for young children. Providing children with safe and comfortable seating that benefits them physically and mentally will help create a positive and engaging learning environment
There’s currently a lot of research surrounding flexible seating and the benefits it brings to students. I want to be on the cutting edge. I’ve read articles on edutopia.org surrounding this popular idea. I’m excited to have different areas in the classroom in which the students can work comfortably at their own pace. I want to create a tall table and have the adjustable stools there so that the students can work high. I’m also going to place a couple of light tables at this station to give them a bit of an extra special feeling to work there. The video chairs will be in the general work area to offer a more comfortable place for reading or writing on a lap board.
