Our school experienced a fire which caused extensive damage to many K-5 classrooms. The loss is devastating for teachers and students alike. Our fourth and fifth grade classrooms were nearest to the fire and all of the class supplies we just stocked up on for the school year are gone. These supplies will put us on track to rebuilding a learning environment our students deserve. In addition, we were in the middle of reading the book Tale of Despereaux which the students were really enjoying. The books requested will give us enough for students to share with a partner so that we can finish reading the book together. The stools and flexible seating will transform our new space into a more dynamic learning space for the students. The Post-it Poster paper and markers will allow me to recreate the charts and reference material for students to use while doing their independent work. The dry erase boards and markers will replace the ones lost. Students use these to solve math problems and work out solutions in a way I can easily assess their knowledge. The Harry Potter book set replaces the class set and is a small nod towards rebuilding a class library with engaging books the students are interested in reading. The daily language review books were something we were using to help students focus on grammar, language, and writing skills. There are some desk supplies that will allow me to organize and stock the teacher's desk.
