So thankful for the opportunity to work on some amazing projects with my students. As we return to in-person schooling, kids really enjoy projects that test their intellect and creativity. Using these supplies, we will work on the projects that can have an impact at school or in the community.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerlach

Thank you so much for your support. My students are eager to read books that are entertaining and captivating. Both of these novels fill these requirements. The books will give students an excellent perspective in order to begin their own personal narratives.

In this day and age, resources are difficult to come by. With your help and support, my students will be able to read several novels and learn to reflect and write about their own personal experiences. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerlach

My students are amazing. They attend an extremely large public high school, in fact, we have over 3,400 students. It is easy to get lost in such an environment, so I have tried to create a culture in class where we discuss issues that will build community and cohesion. More than half of my students are free and reduced lunch. My students are a mix of ethnicities, the two most prominent being Hispanic and African-American. My students are extremely motivated when challenged and they constantly surprise me with their insights. They have experienced tragedy, suffered injustices, and find solace when possible. Their neighborhoods are troubling. They witness violence, they view hate, and they are many times afraid. Nevertheless, they show great courage despite the circumstances. They represent the best of a unique generation.
