I have requested 100 copies of the book, How to Change Everything: The Young Human's Guide to Protecting the Planet and Each Other. The goal of giving students this young reader's guide to climate change and activism is to illustrate to students the importance of Global Climate Change in the 21st century. It gives students background knowledge as to how we got here, what other students are already doing, and what they can do to get involved. In addition, the book discusses not only urban issues, but discusses the idea of climate racism, and how the impact of Global Climate Change is not distributed equally. The book about climate change will give students agency, hope, and ideas, not only on how to get involved now but how to use science and technology for future careers to solve the problem. My hope is to incorporate more nonfiction literacy in the classroom that is relevant to students. I want to provide my students with more access to knowledge to strengthen their discussions, debates, and writing.
