  • Art and Play Table for Little Learners

    Funded Oct 24, 2024

Thank you so very much for the Duplo Blocks and the new art table!

The students have been using the Duplo Blocks almost everyday since we received them. It's one of their most favorite things to play with. They always pull them off the shelf for free time. They have spent countless hours exploring and building, using their imaginations and working together to build the most amazing things. They are the perfect addition to our classroom toys.

The art table has been a life saver! The table that I originally had was not big enough for more than 4 students to sit at and have room to do projects and art activities. This made it very hard to do most projects because some of the groups in my class were made up of 5 students. I usually had to have one student sit on the floor or at another table to work on the project. Now, with the new table, almost 6 students can work on projects at the same time! It's easy to clean, too, which is very important when you have 4 and 5 year olds using paint, markers, pastels, glue, etc...

We, my students and I, really can't thank you enough for your generous donation to our classroom. You have definitely made an impact on my students for the better!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ambers

  • Clean Carpets for Happy and Motivated Students!

    Funded Jun 8, 2023

Thank you so very much for the industrial vacuum cleaner and the storage bins. I had my students watch and "help" as I put the vacuum parts together so I can show them how it works. They were very excited and all wanted a turn to use it.

The storage bins are being used to store the students' lunches and snacks so they are easy to grab when it's time to eat. One bin is being used to store extra clothes in the classroom in case of accidents.

My entire class and I are so thankful to have such a powerful vacuum that is able to clean our carpets and floors which otherwise would NOT get cleaned due to custodian shortages. We are also thankful to have the storage bins to keep our lunches, snack, and extra clothes clean and off of the floor.

    Thank you again,

Ms. Ambers and the children of room 30!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ambers

  • The Gift of Literacy

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My class and I can't thank you all enough for your generous donation. The new books and listening center we received has brought excitement to our classroom. We also just received a subscription to Scholastic News, which my students are super excited about.

Some of the books we received are just the right size for my 4 and 5 year olds. They are also funny with colorful pictures. After I read the books during whole group time, my students can't wait to get their hands on them and look at the pictures while they learn how to turn the pages the correct way and start to recognize simple sight words they have been learning.

The listening center, including some books on CD, is a welcome addition after the one we had broke. The children are so happy to be able to have their listening center back as one of their options during our rotations. It's easy to use and one of the most favorite things to do in our classroom.

Lastly, the Scholastic Magazine subscription was well received. The first one we read and worked on was about polar bears and other arctic animals. The Scholastic Magazine is an amazing resource for teaching science and social studies. It's kid friendly and something my students have never been exposed to. It is truly an amazing resource to have available.”

  • Fine Motor Skills Are Essential to Learn in Transitional Kindergarten

    Funded Aug 4, 2022

My students have been working on their fine motor skills. With the new manipulatives we have received, they have been progressing nicely and have more control of their hands and fingers each and every day. To them, the materials are toys. To me, they are essential objects that strengthen their fingers and hands. My students look forward to using them every day and each time I introduce new materials they are excited to explore different ways to use them. I am very grateful that with your help, I am able to provide my students with the opportunity to gain more control of their fine motor skills.”

  • Just the Right Size!!

    Funded Aug 15, 2022

The tables and chairs that have arrived has made my classroom much more functional for the students. They are able to sit comfortably at the tables and reach materials in front of them instead of stretching across to reach things. The height is perfect and if needed, as my students get taller, I can adjust the height and make the tables fit my students as they grow.

When my students first walked into the room after I put the tables together, they were so excited to see inviting, new, colorful furniture waiting for them. They were so excited, they couldn't wait to tell every student who showed up in the morning. They ran into the class and were proud to show off their new furniture.

My students have been asking to bring toys to their new tables instead of playing with them on the floor. They love the new comfortable chairs and ask to sit on them for story time. They are easy for the children to move and stack. I am so excited for my students to be able to grow with the tables and chairs through out the school year. They make our classroom look more cozy and they are definitely more functional than the oversized and mismatched tables that were originally in the room.”

  • Learning Through Play in TK!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

I can't thank you enough for your generous donations of the play cottage, the see saw and the magnetic tiles

The children love the play cottage. I managed to make room in my classroom for it and the children are in it every day! I love hearing them play and make believe they are a mom, daughter, daddy, etc. When they first saw the box with the picture of the play cottage on it, there was an audible scream!

The see saw is great for their gross motor skills and their social/emotional skills. They must work with a friend to get the see saw moving. I put it together in the classroom and even had enthusiastic helpers preassembling the screws and washers. It is a classroom favorite!

The Picasso magnetic tiles allow for my students to use their creativity in building the most amazing towers, houses, castles, etc. Everyday there's a new "construction" site and they never tire of building with them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ambers

I am requesting a outdoor playhouse cottage for my TK students. The playhouse will be used for fun, for pretend play, to enhance their language skills, to develop critical thinking, and allow for self-expression! Pretend play gets kids engaged in storytelling as they act out new scenarios and communicate what imaginary things are going on – a great way to flex creativity and language skills! Role playing requires kids to engage in storytelling as they make up scenarios and communicate with others about what role they’re playing. They also have to react and build off of what the other person said or did. Using pretend play toys to mimic their adult role models helps instill a sense of independence in children. They feel a sense of power in being able to do what you can do! Running into problems while playing, like trouble closing the refrigerator door when too many items are placed inside or trying to swivel the faucet over a full sink, allows children to think through problems and craft solutions. I cannot wait for my students to have fun, socialize, and develop new skills through the playhouse!
