  • Getting Comfy and Cozy in the Reading Corner

    Funded Aug 24, 2018

    I wanted to thank you for the support to allow my classroom of students the ability to have a comfy and cozy area to read in. The students love using the bean bags and pillows to relax and read a good book.

    The students have additionally decided to move one of our bean bags to our "take a break" area in the classroom. This area is used as a cool down zone. The beanbag and pillow idea has been a huge hit. It allows the students to comfortably relax their mind and body before coming back and joining the class.

    The students enjoy using the beanbags so much, that they have become a huge hit with the other 2nd graders at our school. I often get asked if students in other classrooms can come in and "try out," our bean bags.

    The kids thoroughly enjoy the relaxation of a beanbag and a pillow to really delve into a good book. We appreciate each and every individuals efforts in making this project a complete success.”

A reading corner is a comfortable and inviting space in the classroom for students to sit and read. It is different from a library because it is a corner that belongs to the students and is a part of the classroom where books are easily accessible to them. Students have the complete freedom of choosing books for themselves and reading from a range of attractively displayed books. Therefore, I want my students to be able to get lost in a book, within an inviting and cozy classroom reading space. Please help support our having a special reading space for all - by allowing for calming beanbag seating and calming comfortable pillows.
