  • DeMartini's Dystopian Book Clubs!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for the MASSIVE amount of books that you have provided to our amazing 7th Grade Core students for dystopian book clubs. We are absolutely overjoyed by the amount of book club options we will have for our Spring book clubs.

During the book clubs, students will now have the opportunity to have voice and choice in their desired book selections! This is especially important so that students with all different reading levels, and all different reading interests, have a title that matches their preference!

Again, thank you so much. These books will continue to provide for students in many years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeMartini

  • Taking Refuge in Books!

    Funded Sep 3, 2024

We have so enjoyed reading these Refugee books to teach Historical Fiction. This 7th grade class is HUGE and we did not have enough books. So first, thank you for providing us with the materials to even teach!

We based our unit on perspective, conflict, and character growth. We were also able to set up some timelines and compare what was going on historically to what was going on in the characters' personal lives. Students really loved to put fiction next to real historical events.

The students took such joy in new books and they kept them so pristine! They were honored to be the first to use the books, and it showed!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeMartini

  • DeMartini's Dream Room!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

I can truly say that my students have never loved a space in my classroom so much! They are ALWAYS gathered on the carpet, enjoying the pillow. They LOVE to curl up and read in this space during our silent reading time!

Students' reactions were amazing! They loved watching me unbox everything and their eyes truly lit up! When everything was set up, you could see their excitement and thrill. They said it was a cozy little corner they really loved! That made my whole day.

I will attach some pictures so we can see how well it all came together. Again, thank you for your generosity. We are so happy!”

    With gratitude,

  • Correspondence Supplies for All!

    Funded Feb 22, 2024

Thank you much for your generous gift to our class! We have been SO excited to start assembling our correspondence books! When I laid out all of the materials I could see students' faces light up! They were so enthralled to have an abundance of supplies to decorate their books with. Big win for us!

This project is so much more than just a class assignment. It truly is something special that students will cherish their entire lives. Most of the students were fortunate enough to correspond with a very special person in their life. This book will hold all of those special letters and words said to one another 🩷.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeMartini

  • Reality Isn't Black and White!

    Funded Mar 12, 2024

Thank you so much for giving us a color printer for our classroom! We are so elated to be able to print our projects in COLOR! The photos attached are from the project that inspired it all. We created infographics based on the ocean topic we researched. Students had such a blast creating their infographics on Canva, and they were SO excited to see their hard work printed and displayed in the hallway for all to see! I know this project was one of my favorites and we could not have brought it to life without your generosity.

It is with the sincerest of hearts we say THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

  • Creating Empathy Through Social Issue Book Clubs!

    Funded Jan 18, 2024

Thank you so much for the new social issue book club books! We are so over the moon and can't wait to dive into these new social issue topics! The students always love working in book clubs and collaborating and sharing thoughts with one another. Matching their love for book clubs with fresh new titles is a dream come true! Students can learn from their characters and how they overcome obstacles, empathize with others, and learn new perspective on topics.

Thank you again for your continued generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeMartini

  • Historically Bookmarked!

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

Thank you so much for generosity towards our Historical Fiction Book Clubs! Peaking student interest, especially on the topic of historical fiction can be a challenge; to know that we have dozens of new titles to offer students is truly amazing!

Students soon will be placed in a book club of their choice. The historical fiction topics cover everything from World War II, Civil Rights Movement, 1960s Berlin Wall, and many others! There truly will be a topic for everyone!

Again, the utmost thanks for all of your generosity and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeMartini

  • Correspondence Project Supplies for All!

    Funded Nov 3, 2023

The 8th Grade Team is SO excited to have the opportunity for all of our students to have access to bare books! The correspondence project is our most prized project, so to be able to have equitable supplies for all is truly a blessing!

Students will start to put together their bare books, gluing in the letters and poems they have sent and received from their partners. It is truly a project that students can have and cherish their entire lives!

This would not have been made possible without your support and generosity. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

    With gratitude,

    Funded Oct 10, 2023

Thank you so much for the generous donation! The students have been SO excited to have a new place to sit to work, read and all all else! The students were so excited about the very modern furniture we were able to add to spice up the room! It truly is a dream space!

Please know that this space has been utilized daily by all classes. Further, this space will be used for many students and school years to come. Your donation, no matter how big or small, goes extremely far!

Again, we are very grateful for your generosity!”

Reading surely is not a lost art! This year I am highly emphasizing reading and hoping to fill a classroom library that will instill a lifelong love of reading! I have decided to do a "30 Book Challenge" and challenge my students in the volume of their reading. The research suggests that when students read in higher capacities at appropriate reading levels, their vocabulary acquisition and comprehension skills are directly impacted and strengthened. Unfortunately, the current state of my classroom library is just not able to adequately support this challenge. With this grant, I am hoping to build up my library with all different genres and authors! Middle School is a really great time of exploration; I want to give my students a chance to explore in the realm of reading; what they like, what they are curious about, and what excites them! This is why I have included books from different genres including: Historical Fiction, Realistic Fiction, Fantasy, Action/Adventure, and Nonfiction, as well as different Lexile Reading Levels. I am hoping that students will explore new titles and read some books that they normally would not have chosen! I want to do my part and support their exploration and growth as young readers. We will be so blessed by this donation not only this year, but in many school years to come!
