This project will help support students through the use of a personalized learning approach. It requests two Samsung Chromebooks, Geek Squad protection plans, and Google Chrome Educational Licenses.
Personalized learning allows for students to work on individual skills that are needed to close the achievement gap.
According to the Office of Educational Technology, “personalized learning refers to instruction in which the pace of learning and the instructional approach are optimized for the needs of each learner. Learning objectives, instructional approaches, and instructional content (and its sequencing) may all vary based on learner needs. In addition, learning activities are made available that are meaningful and relevant to learners, driven by their interests and often self-initiated” (2017).
The Chromebooks will allow me to be more adaptive with materials. On top of creating activities for competency-based learning, they will also allow me to provide students with individual and differentiated learning. The Chromebooks will allow students to access websites when in small groups, such as IXL, MobyMax, Khan Academy, Reading A to Z, and LEXIA. These websites can all be personalized to meet each students’ needs and abilities. The Chromebooks allow students to work on skills needed to close the achievement gap.
However, there are limited Chromebooks available in the school, and as a result my classroom currently does not have any. Therefore, I have to share with other classrooms and I am only able to access a few at a time. These Chromebooks will allow me to have access to technology at all times, without the need to be dependent on other teachers to use technology.
