Best Seat in the House!
Funded Nov 10, 2021I am sending you a huge thank you for the storage pockets. My students were so excited when I took them out of the box. They really loved putting them on their chairs and organizing all their materials.
As a class, they decided what should go in their pockets and what should be organized into their desks. The students decided that the pocket should be for their two journals, their red organization folder, their clipboard and two library books.
Your storage packets have transformed the look of our classroom environment. Everything is put away and the room looks neat and tidy. Less belongings on the desks helps students stay focused and on task. The students are taking great pride in keeping their storage pockets organized. Thank you again for your generous donation.”

Funded Dec 15, 2020I am so sorry for the delay. We received the Tornado chapter book back in December. But the set of A Little Princess Books were unavailable. Amazon had a few books but never over 11 so I kept checking back hoping to get the whole set. Oddly, enough I started receiving A Little Princess books from Amazon. 8 last month and 19 books today! I am very excited to have the brand new books for next year!
My class really enjoyed reading Tornado. 9 of my students returned in person on April 18 so we were able to read the book in class! Because there were so few students we were able to read in two small groups so my emerging readers were able to get a lot of extra attention.
My other 15 students stayed remote so I sent the books home when they did a supply/materials pick-up. They were very excited to have a real book in their hands instead of a Chromebook or a printed worksheet! I read mostly with 7 of my students and the other 8 students read together (with a student leader) in two breakout rooms. We had incredible discussions! Our class had done Reader's Theater of The Wizard of Oz in the fall so the Tornado chapter book was perfect.
Thank you so much for your generosity! It really made my students feel special to get to read a brand new book!”

Chromebooks and Storage Sacks for Stupendous STEAM Students
Funded Oct 9, 2019Thank you so much for your very generous donations. I can't even begin to tell you how excited my 3rd graders are! Receiving the four Chromebooks has allowed my students, many that do not have computers in their homes, to be exposed to the latest technology. It is so wonderful to see students get excited to take the Chromebooks to their desks to do research for their projects. In our room, we have just begun an animal adaptation unit. Students have paired up and chosen an animal. Each pair is creating a PowerPoint presentation about their animals for Open House. It is wonderful to watch the students work together enthusiastically, researching their animals, finding images and making slides for their presentations. It is only through your generous donation that my students are able to have this enriching experience. The photos that I shared with you are of the students doing their research!
Also, the students love the storage sacks. They feel much more organized and are able to find their materials quickly. The entire class is proud of our clean, organized room.
Thank you so much again.”

Snug as a Bug on a Rug
Funded Oct 5, 2016A huge thank you for making a difference in my students' lives. We absolutely love the 9 x 12-foot rug and the individual storage sacks. We received the rug first, and I wish you could have seen the look on their faces. One child declared, "This rug makes our room look beautiful!" (The old rug was filthy and at least 5-10 years old.) My third graders love to lie on the soft rug and read a book with a friend. The large squares on the rug allow my students to know their personal space and this really helps them to focus while I'm teaching a lesson. Also, we love the storage sacks that hang on the chairs. This helps the students keep their desks clear for working. It also allows them to organize the papers, books, and journals. What a difference in the classroom. It no longer looks cluttered, and the kids love having their desk clear and clean!!
I have to mention how excited my class was when we were on our field trip, and we drove by a Chevron station. The kids all started yelling and pointing, "There's Chevron, there's Chevron!!" Thank you again.”

Learning with Tablets!
Funded Oct 6, 2015Thank you so much for your very generous donations. I can't even begin to tell you how excited my 3rd graders are. Receiving the two computers and the mini i-Pad has allowed my students, many that do not have computers in their homes, to be exposed to the latest technology. It is so wonderful to see students get excited to take the computers or iPad to their desk to play a math or language game, do research, or just practice their typing. In our room, we have just begun a Social Studies unit on the four regions of California: desert, coast, mountain, and central valley. Every child has been placed into a region group. Each group is creating a PowerPoint presentation about their region for Open House. It is wonderful to watch each group of students work together enthusiastically, researching their region, finding images and making slides for their region presentation. It is only through your generous donation that my students are able to have this enriched experience. The photos that I shared with you are of the students doing their research! Oh, The Things We Could Learn!
Funded Dec 19, 2014Thank you so much for your generous donations for Room 18's new document camera. The students were so excited to receive it, and they wanted you all to know that we use it every single day!
It's so wonderful for the students to be able to share their writing with the class. The students are so proud to put their work under the document camera so it can be projected on the white board. Sharing the students' journals has really helped the entire class to improve their writing. Or if I'm teaching a new poem, I can simply put the book under the camera and all the students can recite it together. My class also loves learning new math games, and our document camera makes it so much easier for the students to understand the new game!
Thank you again. Your donation has really made a huge impact on my students' learning!”

Making Our Best, Better
Funded Jan 30, 2012A huge thank you to all our donors for funding our project. The students are so thrilled to be able to have our very own tablet for the classroom. The tablet will definitely help us, "Make our best, better!" My students are so inquisitive and have a thirst for learning. They are so excited about researching topics and becoming class experts. Soon they will be presenting their findings and sharing their knowledge with the class. Thank you again for supporting education and making a difference.”
