With schools and society becoming more and more technology based, it's imperative that my pre-k students get the exposure needed to set them up for future success. This requires students to become familiar and proficient with both technology and STEM activities at younger and younger ages. One way to develop these STEM skills is to provide opportunities through age appropriate educational apps. "Today's students are going to be expected to know how to do things not required by generations before them, so they need to do things in school that generations before them simply did not do." - Andy Larmand At my Title 1 school, technology such as iPads or laptops are primarily allocated to the upper grades, however, with many of my students having no access to technology at home, developing skills with these tools at a younger age will set them up to be successful in a society where technology at home is a norm. More and more jobs are requiring some foundation in either math, science, or even both, so if you support this project by giving my students the opportunity to use these iPads, you will help put my students on the path to success by giving them access to both enrichment activities, and STEM apps for younger children.
