  • Saving the Environment, One Baggie at a Time!

    Funded Feb 14, 2019

Teaching environmental consciousness to third graders is not easy. Thanks to your generous donation, we are able to show the students what an impact plastic can have on the environment. The students have noticed that they aren't ripping through plastic baggies anymore. They have also noticed that we are creating a lot less garbage in the room at the end of the day. Now we can focus on the job at hand. Our personal collection of books is more organized so we can get right to reading as soon as we get to class. Without your generous donation, none of this would be possible. We hope that as the children grow, this lesson of conservation will remain with them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. LoPresti

  • Literacy Games= Reading FUN!

    Funded Nov 27, 2018

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity to our classroom project! The looks on the students' faces were priceless when they got to see all of the learning games they now have access to.

It can be incredibly difficult to get the students excited about reading but I think we have found a way through these reading games. The first time we took them out, the students got so excited to try them out. Now they want to play every day!

One of the topics we have been covering in Reading is comprehension. We have been learning main idea strategies, context clues strategies, parts of speech, parts of books and more. These games have brought all of those strategies to life. The games make learning so much more fun!

Thank you again for making this come true for our class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. LoPresti

We need some new literacy games to help make learning and practicing reading even more exciting and fun! We know that our students learn better in smaller groups. These cooperative learning games will give our students time to practice their reading skills and strategies in a fun environment. Students will use these literacy games to reinforce all of the skills and strategies that they learn in both Reader's Workshop and Guided Reading. Through play, our class will be able to practice skills such as predicting, summarizing and questioning. They will learn more about how to find the main idea, how to infer feelings and traits, how to tell what the author means and many other skills. The games will also help the students to learn how to work together cooperatively. These skills will help the students in all of their future work as well.
