  • Time for a Sensory Break Take 2

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you for your generous support in funding resources for our sensory room. Your contribution has provided us with essential tools to support our students' sensory needs and help them regulate their emotions and behavior.

The sensory sock stands, toys, and lighting options have already made a significant impact. Students now have the sensory input they need to feel grounded and focused, allowing them to return to their work with greater calmness. The calming lights have proven especially effective in reducing anxiety and creating a soothing atmosphere.

These resources have not only improved emotional regulation but have also helped decrease challenging behaviors, creating a more positive and supportive environment for our students. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and the lasting difference it has made in the lives of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Geraghty

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation towards the PS212Q sensory room. Your support has significantly impacted our students' lives, and I am truly grateful for your kindness and generosity.

Thanks to your contribution, the students at 212 now have an enhanced sensory experience when they enter the room. Your donation has allowed me to expand the options available in the sensory room, providing our students with more choices and opportunities for exploration and relaxation. Seeing the joy and comfort they experience as they spend time in this nurturing environment is heartwarming.

Your generosity benefits our current students and leaves a lasting impact on our entire school community. Your belief in my mission to create inclusive and supportive spaces for all students is deeply appreciated.”

  • Time for a Sensory Break

    Funded May 13, 2023

I am writing to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous contributions that have helped us create our very first sensory room at PS212.

Because of your support, we were able to acquire the essential sensory items needed for our students, including sensory lights, tables, and seating. These resources are not only instrumental in aiding the children in my class, but they will also benefit all the children at PS212 who require a bit more assistance.

Your donations have made a tangible difference in the lives of our students, providing them with an environment that supports their unique sensory needs and helps them thrive. The impact of your generosity cannot be overstated, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness has been instrumental in creating a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all the children at PS212. I can't wait to see my kiddos learn and grow using this space.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Geraghty

  • Soft Starts

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

The students were so excited to receive the new soft start activities.. We spent a couple of weeks going through the new activities and the rules, and they got to create. Different games each day. The big favorite of all my students is the pixel building blocks. My students say they love building new animals and characters. All my new building materials and storage bins allow students to ease into their mornings rather than jumping right into classwork. These materials are also building independence as my students are

Because of your help, my students have natural opportunities to build independence and problem-solving skills during our Morning Soft Starts. It allows the students the opportunity to choose and show responsibility by cleaning up after”

  • Flexible Seating is My Jam 2

    Funded May 7, 2019

Thank you so very much for your generous contributions to my DonorsChoose.org project. The tables have been a huge hit.

My students immediately grabbed the markers and began working out the math problem they were solving on the tables. Students who rarely worked out problems with paper and pencil were working out problems like crazy. One student said it was a fun way to practice his sight words!

Another favorite addition to our classroom are the two stability ball chairs. These chairs have completely changed our entire classroom. The kids love them so much! They are able to wheel around and join different groups, all while staying seated, with minimal distraction. Who doesn't love bouncing up and down all day, while completing all their work!

Thank you again for donating to our classroom!”

  • Wiggle While You Read

    Funded Nov 16, 2018

Thank you so much for helping my classroom get great books for library. Now we have so many books available for all my readers A-J. Now that we have a wide selection to choose from my students have become so excited for reading time. I am so happy that I will be able to use these quality books that I have previously read to engage my students and help them become the best readers possible. I can't wait to help them fall in love with reading even more with theses books that are at an appropriate instructional level for them. Thank you again!”

  • Flexible Seating is My Jam

    Funded Sep 1, 2018

I cant even being to THANK YOU enough!

We have been so excited to utilize the flexible seating options and the whiteboard tables! The students have been thrilled to work complete math problems on the table instead of scrambling for scratch paper. What's more fun then writing directly on the desk!

It also helps greatly when students are working on writing assignments and need stretch out tricky words or need help remember what to do next. They are able to write down their steps and can quickly erase after completing each step.

My students look forward to coming into our classroom knowing they will have the flexibility to choose their seat and move around to find a leaning space that works best for them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Geraghty

I am seeking to give my students options for where they produce their best work in an effort to help my students become independent learners. My 2nd and 3rd graders love having options when choosing where to sit. At times, when students work at their tables, they get distracted by their classmates. With flexible seating options around the room, students will be able to find their quiet space and work their hardest. The kidney and round table will allow for more opportunities to move about the room. I love the idea of not having formal desks and having my students choose where to work!
